Domain Name Buying FAQ

Domain Name Buying FAQ

What do I need to do to purchase a name from you?

99% of my names are listed on Sedo.com. Check out my Sedo.com page, find the domain you are interested in and place your offer. It really is that simple. I then can either accept your offer and sell you the domain or send the domain to auction with your offer being the first bid.

Do you sell names outside of Sedo?

Yes. For smaller sales I sometimes just to a paypal transaction and then push the domain to the buyer after I have received the funds.

I can buy a name at Godaddy.com for $10 why are you names more expensive?

I am not a Domain registrar I am a domain investor. You can only register names that are available and no one owns at registrars like GoDaddy. The names I own you can only purchase from me because I am the owner as long as I pay the registration fee each year for the domain names. In this day of age it is very hard to find solid names that are still available so you have to purchase those names off of the domain owners such as myself.

What is the cost after I buy my name from you?

After you pay me for your domain name and I push it to your account you never have to pay me anything more. At this point you own the name. You do however have to pay the domain registrar a flat fee every year to keep the domain name registered in your name. That fee varies depending on the registrar and the domain extension (.com, .net .org .tv etc). For .com, .net and .org that fee ranges from $6-$12 a year on average.

Why should I buy your name if I already own a name for my company?

Most companies that buy domains from me do it to improve on the name they already have.

For example if you owned a moving company in Columbus, Ohio and owned the domain name BifAlfMovesColumbus.com and I had for sale ColumbusMovers.com you would benefit greatly from purchasing my name. The fact is that google ranks websites higher when they contain all the keywords that a person is searching for in the domain name. When people in Columbus Ohio type into google “Columbus movers” the chances are the ColumbusMovers.com will be better positioned then BifAlfMovesColumbus.com because it contains the exact search term in the domain name.

Utilizing domain names that contain the search phrases your customers search for will put your site in front of more visitors on a daily basis and enable you to earn more money. Many of my names contain search phrases that get 1000’s of searches a month giving you instant access to these customers.

I am looking to start a new website/blog/company but don’t want a generic sounding name. Do you have any fun names to build a brand around?

Although I tend to focus on keyword domain name some of my names are just catchy and a great starting point to build a brand or business around.
